As 8th graders, students participate in a program called Career Connections each day at Van Wert Middle School. The purpose of Career Connections is to expose students to a variety of career paths on a daily basis with the hopes of sparking an interest in a particular occupation. This helps students determine the best educational path for themselves as they begin their transition into high school. Career Connections introduces students to the fields of Marketing, Engineering, Health Care, Business and IT, as well as several other professions. Career Connections works closely with Mr. Koontz’s CEO Program at the high school level, opening doors to internships and local business connections. The goal is that each and every student finds their passion and begins to build the foundation for the knowledge needed to continue to thrive in that particular career.
