VWHS Students Attend BETA Convention
On March 22 and 23, Van Wert High School BETA Club members attended the 66th Annual Ohio State Beta Convention held in Columbus. Van Wert was one of eleven attending high schools. Junior Steele Stabler represented Van Wert by running for state Beta office and Senior Cade Chiles led the convention as Ohio State Beta President. Chiles was chosen by attending students’ votes from all schools at last year’s convention.
Van Wert participated in several academic and artistic competitions, where students received high marks. Students receiving awards in art include Caton Williamson, 3rd in drawing and 2nd in mixed media, Chloe Brake, 1st in watercolor, Nicole Clay, 1st in recyclable art, Marshall Healey, 1st in sculpture, and Anna Reichert, 2nd in photography, 2nd in handmade jewelry, 1st in onsite colored pencil drawing, and Cassidy Myers, Erin Richardson, Camryn Nouza, Briana Kesler, 1st in Advertising Design.
Students receiving awards in other academic areas include Mikayla Hernandez, 1st in Creative Writing, Storm Matthews, 2nd in Poetry, Matt Reichert, 3rd in Jr/Sr Oratory, Marshall Healey, 1st in Fr/So. Oratory, Chelsey White, 2nd in Spanish, Allison Hauter, 3rd in Agriculture, Anna Reichert and Michaella Johnson, 2nd in Special Talent, Katie Able, Michaella Johnson, Cassie Welker, and Storm Matthews, 2nd in Robotics Showcase, 3rd in club Campaign Skit, 6th in Spotlight on Service, and 6th in Living Literature. Beta Club is for select students and is founded on leadership, service, and character principles.
