Welcome to Van Wert City Schools where we will strive to be a servant leader in everything we do. VWCS has a preschool – 12 enrollment of 2,202 students, and we are proud to say we have some of the most innovative instructional programs in the state of Ohio. Our district has achieved several honors including our Early Childhood Center’s 5-star rating, our Elementary School’s OAESA Hall of Fame status, our Middle School’s continued success as an Ohio School to Watch since 2005, and Van Wert High School’s ranking as a U.S. News & World Report “Best High School”.

Some innovative educational opportunities that contributed to VWCS achieving these honors include our High School CEO (Career Education Opportunities) program that allows students to obtain internships in many local businesses. We are very proud of our Project Based Learning curriculum model that is implemented district-wide in grades 4 – 12. We are continually expanding on it and hope to have it K – 12 in a few short years. Our Early Childhood Center uses a Play Based Learning method to engage preschool and kindergarten students. Another shining example in our preschool, kindergarten, and elementary grades is our Literacy Collaborative program. We are also incredibly pleased to offer 70+ STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) classes throughout our district. VWCS is extremely proud of our robotics teams, as well as our talented students who participate in art, music, theatre, and athletics! For a full view of our Quality Profile, click here.

We believe it is vital to educate and care for the whole child as we prepare our students to leave our district and go on to successful post-secondary experiences, whether it be directly into the workforce, a two- or four-year college experience, or the military. This is exemplified by our Vision, which states, “In partnership with our community, Van Wert City Schools will ensure that all students develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to thrive in post-secondary education, careers, and civic life.”

We want to partner with families to help give our students the best possible education. Thanks for allowing your kids to be part of a WE>ME district and we will be here to help and answer your questions!

Sincerely,
