Van Wert City Schools will be using our DISTRICT DETERMINED REMOTE LEARNING PLAN for any day missed after the 9th day of school due to weather.

Thursday, February 18th was the 9th day of school missed at Van Wert City Schools.   Starting Monday, February 22nd and beyond if we are to miss school for inclement weather,  students will not be attending school in person; instead, instruction will be received remotely from home.  During this time, VWCS teachers and all employees will be working from their classrooms or workspace all day if the weather permits or from home if the weather is too hazardous to travel.

Students will operate on a 2 hour delay schedule meaning they will start their remote learning from home from 10:00-3:00.  Teachers will instruct students through ECHO or Google Classroom using ZOOM, recorded lessons, and posted activities and assessments following their established class schedule.  Students are required to complete and submit all assigned activities and assessments by the stated deadline.

Students who are currently on a PARENT SELECTED REMOTE LEARNING PLAN will continue on that plan.  If the schedule will change for these students, teachers will communicate the information in a timely manner.

Your student’s building principal and teachers will give you specific instructions on how these days will be constructed.  Your child will bring home the necessary equipment and materials to ensure that remote learning activities are productive.  If materials were not available to bring home, adequate time will be given to complete all assignments.

Thanks for all you have done to support VWCS and dealing with a challenging year.  The 2020-2021 school year has certainly been unique and one of a kind.  We must continue to be prepared and flexible each day as we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic and the weather.  VWCS will continue to communicate any changes or updates as they arise.  Van Wert City Schools have been very fortunate to be able to provide face to face in person instruction since August 24th.
