Board of Education meetings are scheduled for the 4th Wednesday (3rd Wednesday in November & December) of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the First Federal Lecture Hall in the Niswonger Performing Arts Center.
Debby Compton is a 1996 graduate of Van Wert High School. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Physical Therapy from Bowling Green State University, her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Des Moines University and her Master's in Business Administration from Tiffin University. A physical therapist by trade, she is now currently the Administrative Director of Ancillary Services at Van Wert County Hospital. Debby is the VWCS representative on the Vantage Career Center Board of Education and the Van Wert Area Schools Insurance Group. She is also a member of the Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce Board. Debby and her husband, Luke, who is also a VWHS alumnus, have two children, LJ and Clara. Debby takes pride in being a part of the Van Wert City Schools and supporting the work of meeting every student's individual needs.
Julie Burenga grew up in Illinois and has a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Julie is a financial planner with Jehl and Kreilach Financial Planning in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and serves on a number of boards in the community including the YWCA of Van Wert County, First United Methodist Church Preschool, Mission committee and Administrative Board, and the Van Wert County Tennis Association. Julie and her husband, Tom, moved to Van Wert in 2000 for his career and have two daughters, Jamie and Amanda.
Greg Blackmore graduated from Van Wert high School in 1982. After school, Greg enlisted in the United States Army and married his wife, Shari Lehrman. Greg served four years as a military Police Officer, doing most of his tour in Europe. After his tour finished, Greg moved back to Van Wert with his wife and worked several years at Fleetwood Motor Homes. He then became a police officer with the Van Wert Police Department. Greg retired from the VWPD after 30 years of service, 24 of them as the school liaison and D.A.R.E. officer.
Scott Mull is a claims supervisor at Central Mutual Insurance Company. In addition to serving on the Van Wert City School Board, Scott is active with the United Way of Van Wert County, Junior Achievement of Van Wert County and serves on the Board of Trustees at Northwest State Community College. Scott is married to Kim Mull, a para-professional at the Early Childhood Center and they have two daughters, Gracie and Lilie, who are active in the Van Wert City School system. Scott enjoys being part of the Van Wert City Schools to help promote its educational excellence, best-in-class staff and financial stability.
