VWMS 6th grade Cougar Leaders donate $250 to members of the Van Wert Humane Society

Under the leadership of Van Wert Middle School teacher, Marie Markward, and community volunteer, Rachel Hoverman, the 6th grade Cougar Leaders raised $250.00 to donate to the Van Wert Humane Society Capital Campaign.

Heavy rain on Saturday didn’t stop local supporters of Human Trafficking Awareness Month from turning out at the Van Wert High School Gym to give their donations to the annual Van Wert-Lincolnview donnybrook generated on behalf of “human trafficking” to raise money for the month-long fund-raising in Van Wert County

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month and for the second year in a row, the Van Wert Lady Cougars and Lincolnview Lady Lancers, in conjunction with the YWCA of Van Wert County, are competing to see which team can raise the most funds to benefit victims of human trafficking.

During Van Wert's first Board of Education meeting of the new year, Board members approved a resignation at the end of the school year due to retirement from Superintendent Vicki Brunn. Brunn is in her second year as Van Wert City Schools Superintendent.
