What is Dental Outreach?

Dental Outreach is a school-based mobile dental service that serves northwest Ohio and focuses on preventive care. Once a year, the dental van visits participating schools to provide dental exams, cleanings, sealants, fluoride, and silver diamine fluoride (SDF). The van returns a second time later in the year to reapply SDF for some students, depending on their treatment needs. Patients that need additional care, or treatments not available in the van, are referred to our regular dental offices or other pediatric oral health care facilities.

The dental van’s team is made up of two people: a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) and Dental Assistant (DA). This team manages the schedule and treatment of their patients.

Cost

These services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to students. If the student has insurance that our company accepts, especially Medicaid, we will charge their insurance. If the patient does not have insurance, or if there is leftover cost, Health Partners of Western Ohio will cover the remaining balance. Families will never receive a bill for Dental Outreach services.
