VWCS Praised for Cardiac Emergency Response Readiness
On Wednesday, November 16, designated staff members throughout Van Wert City School District completed Project ADAM Heart Safe CPR/AED training. Marc Dutrow, BS, MSN, RN, a Project ADAM Coordinator from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, was there to assess the training, and praised the district for being “the best-prepared district in the state of Ohio."
“This is a team effort," said Assistant Superintendent Bob Priest. "We are incredibly grateful to have such a supportive district and community; from staff volunteering to be part of the Cardiac Emergency Response Team (CERT) to first responders for taking time out of their day to be involved in the training," Priest said.
As always, Van Wert City Schools would like to extend their gratitude to Fire Chief Jon Jones and staff at the Van Wert Fire Department, Officer Bryon Wells with the Van Wert Police Department, and Emergency Response Coordinator Matt Saunier, for their constant support. These teams, along with VWCS staff members, go above and beyond to ensure our schools - as well as our community - are safe places to grow, work, and learn.
VWCS would also like to thank and recognize the following staff for stepping out of their comfort zone by volunteering to be a part of the emergency medical response teams:
