Thanks to a generous contribution from the Van Wert County YMCA, Van Wert High School has added six treadmills and four ellipticals, allowing the high school to transform the current weight room into more of a fitness center. "We are excited to collaborate with the YMCA for the addition of this equipment, as it represents our commitment to promoting the importance of our students' overall physical health and well-being," said Van Wert City Schools Superintendent Mark Bagley.
"The new equipment will provide students with more choices for their workout routines and increase overall access to staying active and healthy," added Bagley.
The move is intended to broaden the range of student-athletes utilizing the equipment rather than just a specific group. The decision to add more cardio equipment comes when fitness is becoming increasingly important for students who want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The fitness center is open to our fitness and gym classes during the school day and our athletic sports teams in the evenings. However, the goal is to add an open workout time in the evenings for any high school athlete who wants to improve their physical health and well-being.
