Greater Lima Region, Inc. has canceled Makerfest 2020, which had been scheduled for Oct. 16 – 17 at the Allen County Fairgrounds.

This would have been the sixth year of Makerfest, the region’s largest event dedicated to bringing job seekers together with the area’s leading employers. Expectations were for over 1,500 students and 100 employers to participate in this year’s two-day event, which was to include a skilled trades competition along with a traditional job fair in partnership with Ohio Means Jobs/Allen County.

“This was not an easy decision, as we know how well received Makerfest is by our employers, students and other participants," said Doug Olsson, President/CEO of Greater Lima Region, Inc. "Planning for Makerfest is an eight-month process and with the disruption to our partner schools and various employers caused by COVID-19, it proved nearly impossible to plan accordingly. We remain committed to executing plans which assist our region’s employers in building the qualified workforce they need. Our optimism for positive growth in our community has not wavered. For Makerfest, we now turn our sights to 2021.”
