Visiting Wayne Trace improved its overall record to 10-2 on the season with a straight set win over host Van Wert in non-league volleyball play Monday night at the Cougars’ Den.
The Lady Raiders held off the Cougars 25-21 in the opening set to take control and Wayne Trace captured the second set 25-15. The red, white and blue then completed the sweep with a 25-10 victory in game three.
Gracie Shepherd posted 18 kills and 11 digs to lead the Lady Raiders to the victory with Sydnee Sinn and Harper Myers both recording ten slams.
The Raiders also got 11 digs from Shepherd with Kaitlin Slade recording 18 and Sinn picked up a dozen. Macy Doster also had seven digs for the red, white and blue while Kacy Hornish picked up five and Paige Alber recorded four.
Lexi Moore finished with four blocks and Myers totaled three with Torree Sinn also chipping in three kills. Hornish led Wayne Trace by dishing out 22 assists and Alber recorded 19 helpers.
Hornish also chipped in three kills for the Lady Raiders and Moore posted a pair of slams. Slade also finished with two assists.
Wayne Trace’s junior varsity upped its record to 6-1 on the season with a 25-22, 21-25 and 25-5 win over the Cougars.
Addison Stoller dished out 11 assists and recorded three digs while Ava Zartman finished with seven slams and nine digs.
Careen Winans recorded five kills, three aces and 11 digs and Caroline Winans totaled 20 digs. Kathleen Stoller also chipped in three kills and three digs with Lorie Sinn contributing two kills, 11 assists and seven digs.
Natalie Stoller finished with three kills, five aces and six digs while Riley Hildebrand posted three kills and two digs. Tori Young also had three digs.
