The Lady Cougars dropped two games on the road to Bryan on Saturday by final scores of 12-2 and 9-7.

In game one, the Golden Bears hit Van Wert with a barrage of offense out of the gate and never looked back.

Bryan scored two in the first, six in the second and three in the third to open up a double-digit lead that ultimately ended the game in five innings.

Addie Arnold, Delilah Taylor and Alex Vreeland combined to go eight of 12 and score eight runs as the top three batters in the Bryan lineup.

Arnold was 3-4 with a home run as an individual to lead the home offense, and she also pitched all five innings on the mound to get the win. Arnold allowed just two unearned runs and struck out seven in five innings.

Emilee Phillips took the loss on the bump for the Cougars after she yielded 12 runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings of work.

Van Wert got their only two runs of the opener in the fifth on an RBI single by Phillips and an error by the Bryan defense.

The second game of the day was a much different story, but it ended the same way for the Lady Cougars.

With the game tied at seven in the bottom of the sixth, Bryan took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Taylor and an RBI single from Ella Voigt.

The Golden Bears entered the inning down two 7-5 and were able to manufacture four runs to push in front for good and cap off the sweep.

Van Wert got things going in the first inning when Lorynn German lined a ball into center field to plate Kiara Saam. Bryan answered with three runs in the bottom of the first before Carlee Young brought around the Lady Cougars second run on an RBI double.

Young doubled again two innings later to put the visitors in front, then Phillips, German, and Sydnee Savage each pushed across runs to extend Van Wert's lead to 7-3.

Bryan scored twice in the fifth before their four-run rally in the sixth to win the game.

Addie Arnold nabbed her second pitching win of the day in game two, while Marissa Mottinger took the loss.

Van Wert (1-3) is scheduled to open WBL play in their next game on Tuesday at home against Bath.
