The Lady Cougars were unable to complete the comeback during Monday night’s 7-5 loss to Bath.
Despite bring down 5-0 in the fifth inning, Van Wert rallied back with five runs in their final three trips to the plate. Bath ultimately halted the rally by inducing a game-ending groundout with two runners on.
Emma Kennedy collected a game-high three hits for Van Wert and both Kennedy and Abbi Marbaugh drove in a run.
Emilee Phillips pitched a complete game in the loss. She allowed five earned runs on 10 hits to Bath.
The Lady Cougars (5-10, 5-3 WBL) have another conference game on Tuesday night in Kenton.
